Your body needs a skin care routine, too
Most of us are so focused on taking care of the skin on our faces that we fall short of taking care of the skin on our bodies. We know it can be overwhelming making sure each and every square inch of your body is moisturized and glowing, but it is certainly possible by taking a few simple steps and by using the right products.
We highlight some essential body care steps you can take to ensure soft, hydrated and clean skin all the time.
Learn the art of the dry brush
You brush your hair and even your beard hair, but have you ever thought about brushing your skin? It is exactly what it sounds like: gently brushing the skin using a dry brush. This practice is becoming more popular nowadays and most people like to dry brush their skin before hopping in the shower to wipe away dead skin cells, exfoliate and detoxify the skin. Dry brushing should be “dry,” meaning you should not use any liquid or cleanser on the brush or on the skin while doing this step.
Exfoliate
This is where you need to get some water involved in your body care system, so step in the shower to exfoliate. Exfoliating your skin is one of the most important steps that many people tend to brush off (no pun intended.) Exfoliation does a few beneficial things, like smoothes and softens the skin and keeps ingrown hairs at bay. There are a few different ways to exfoliate, the most popular being a body scrub. We recommend using a gentle scrub made with natural ingredients, or even using exfoliating gloves!
Cleanse using a natural body wash
After you have exfoliated, cleanse your skin and lock in hydration with a body wash in the shower. Consider trying out a natural body wash to restore a clean balance to your skin, like Way of Will’s line of essential oil-infused body washes.
Rinsing
Rinse off the excess body wash using lukewarm water. We actually recommend trying a cold water rinse! It can be uncomfortable for some people since we are used to showering in warm water, but rinsing your skin under cold water has tremendous benefits. It can improve your mood and boost energy levels, reduce aches and pains, improve blood circulation, and close up your pores.
Moisturize
Last but not least, moisturize! You can keep your skin feeling soft and supple after the shower by using an aromatherapeutic body oil, like Way of Will’s 07 Breather Moisturizing body oil, made with Cedarwood and Grapefruit essential oils to relax and restore damaged skin and balance and tone congested and oily skin.
